# Canopy-Covered Coast Homes The Tent House Transitions for Different Weather Conditions By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2017-02-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tent-house References: [uncrate](http://uncrate.com/article/tent-house/) & [sparksarchitects](http://sparksarchitects.com/verrierdale-2) Although it might seem as though a tent or canopy isn't the first thing that comes to mind regarding [home design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-pod), the [Tent House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tent-acme) offers a glimpse of what this might actually look like. Situated about 20-minutes away from the Sunshine Coast in Australia, the house consists of an expansive home that is covered with a tent canopy that acts as a way to illuminate the space and offer resistance from the elements. The Tent House features three bedrooms are are situated on either side of a centrally located open space that merges a living room, dining room and kitchen into one airy section. While quite structured and clean on the interior, the Tent House appears more soft and aesthetically friendly thanks to the implementation of the tent canopy overtop of the entire dwelling. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Tent Architecture:** Explore the rising trend of incorporating tent canopies in home design, offering flexibility and protection from the elements. - **Open-concept Living:** Embrace the trend of merging living, dining, and kitchen spaces into one airy and multifunctional area for a sense of openness and flow. - **Nature-inspired Aesthetics:** Tap into the trend of infusing natural aesthetics into home design to create a soft and visually appealing environment. ### Where This Applies - **Home Construction:** The home construction industry can leverage tent architecture to offer unique and customizable housing solutions. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can embrace the open-concept living trend to create seamless and functional spaces for their clients. - **Outdoor Living:** The outdoor living industry can capitalize on the nature-inspired aesthetics trend to provide innovative products and designs that bring nature into everyday spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Technical Expansion Tent Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/23-home.md) - [Experimental Shelter Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grayhus.md) - [Angular Multi-Level Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nokken-softshell-tent.md) - [Four-Season Inflatable Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fourseason-inflatable-tent.md) - [Expansive Multipurpose Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multipurpose-tents.md) - [Durable Adventure-Ready Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-acadia.md) - [Transparent Teardrop-Shaped Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yuko-nagayama-associates.md) - [Geodesic Street Wear Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heimplanet-x-maharishi-cave-tent.md) - [Posh Polyhedral Camping Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tokyo-crafts-grayhus.md)
