He made a [laptop out of a cheap book](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gatbook) to create a visual that illustrates the issue. [Yanko Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) notes, "The book/laptop, has a CD-Rom drive complete with CD, [a keyboard that can be removed](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compal-adapt-x) so as to access the battery, and a switch that turns off the screen light once the book is closed. The book when closed, looks just like a regular book until opened. The words, “The Future of Books” is inscribed on the spine. Very clever design. Very clear message. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Technology Reinventing Books:** A trend of integrating technology into traditional reading materials, such as creating laptops out of books, showcases the disruptive innovation opportunity of blending physical and digital experiences. - **Portable Hybrid Devices:** The creation of a laptop out of a book highlights the potential for innovative portable devices that combine the functionalities of multiple gadgets. - **Interactive Reading Experiences:** Designs like the book/laptop demonstrate the potential for interactive reading experiences that merge physical and digital elements. ### Who This Affects Most - **Publishing:** The publishing industry can explore opportunities to transform traditional books into interactive multimedia experiences by incorporating technology like laptops made from books. - **Electronics:** The electronics industry can innovate and explore the creation of hybrid devices that combine the features of books and laptops, disrupting the conventional product offerings. - **Design and Manufacturing:** Designers and manufacturers can explore the potential of incorporating technology into traditional objects, like integrating laptops into books, to create unique and disruptive products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chromatic Customizable Display Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovo-thinkbook-13x-gen-4-spe.md) - [Immersive All-Screen Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macbook-folio.md) - [Child-Targeted Laptop Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compal-studybook.md) - [Easily Customizable Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovos-new-laptop.md) - [Retrofuturism Laptop Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-laptop-concept.md) - [Book-Inspired Tech Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twelve-south-bookbook-caddysack.md) - [Electronic 3D Book Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bbook.md) - [Three-in-One Laptop Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seal-laptop.md) - [Sustainable Laptop Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dell-concept-luna.md)
