Trend Hunter Editor Michael Hemsworth discusses his favorite examples of retro tech, from filtered polaroid cameras to vintage typewriter-inspired keyboards and 60s-inspired smartphone docks. If you are a fan of [Instagram](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-instagram-gadget) or even [Pinterest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-free-experience), a revamped camera from Lomography allows you to add filters and print pictures. Or if you are into collecting old typewriters, a vintage looking keyboard that hooks up to your [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timeless-typewriter-keyboard-design) is another hipster-esque way to go. If you're missing Mad Men, a wooden analog-clock featuring smartphone dock is both simple and significant. On the other hand, if you're reminiscing about a different decade there is a tape recorder themed music player that plays into the old school tech designs theme quite nicely. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Retro Tech Designs:** Retro tech designs are becoming popular among late adaptors and design enthusiasts, creating opportunities for innovative product designs that blend vintage and modern tech. - **Filtered Polaroid Cameras:** The resurgence of filtered polaroid cameras reflects a trend towards combining the convenience of digital technology with the aesthetic of retro photography. - **Vintage-inspired Keyboards:** Vintage-inspired keyboards are gaining traction among retro tech enthusiasts, paving the way for innovative product designs that marry the nostalgia of old-fashioned keyboards with modern computer capabilities. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Incorporating retro design elements into modern cameras and photo editing software could appeal to consumers who want to combine vintage aesthetics with modern technology. - **Personal Computing:** Designing vintage-looking keyboards that connect to modern devices could appeal to retro tech enthusiasts who want to relive the experience of typing on an old-fashioned typewriter. - **Product Design:** Incorporating retro design elements into a variety of products, ranging from music players to smartphone docks, could tap into the current popularity of vintage and nostalgic aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vintage-Inspired Technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-technology-tech-brand-kickbacks-discman-is-nostalgic.md) - [Retro Social App Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-instagram-gadget.md) - [Nostalgic Retro Music Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-mixtape-kit.md) - [Retro Docking Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/docking-hub.md) - [80s-Inspired 16-Bit Display Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/16bit-display.md) - [Retrofuturism Laptop Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-laptop-concept.md) - [Nostalgic 90s Keyboard Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/class-1800-mechanical-keyboard.md) - [Desktop Display Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minitoo-retro-pc-style.md) - [Rad Retro-Style Smartwatches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuture-wrist-tech.md)
