With the buzz for the 2012 Summer Olympics heating up, artist Oli Kellett rendered Team Vodkovia in tribute to the internationally historic event. The series is a curation of character portraits and group works of athletes participating for the fictitious nation of Vodkovia. The collection plays out like campaign posters, playing on the idolization of athletes. What makes these posters most memorable is the surrealist proportions of each character. Kellett exaggerated physical characteristics, which allows the subjects a certain natural talent for a certain sport.
The London-based artist created Team Vodkovia in hopes of making the sports world less serious and more fun. The satirical edge is sharp and endearing, allowing the collection to be highly relatable.
