# Saucer-Embedded Furniture The Tea for One Table by DESIGNK is Cute and Quirky By Meghan Young | Published 2012-08-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tea-for-one-table References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/tea-for-one-tea-table-by-designk) & [designk](http://www.designk.co.uk/) What at first looks like a [cute and colorful stool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-tables) is actually the Tea for One Table. As its name gives away, this table is made for one. Created especially with tea time in mind, the fun piece of furniture has a recess on its surface that perfectly fits a [ceramic saucer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gptea-set). It allows people to quirkily place a teacup or dessert on its surface without fear of dirtying it while also adding a unique decor touch. The Tea for One Table was designed by DesignK, a studio based in the United Kingdom. Literally putting afternoon tea on a pedestal, which many already do in their hearts, the table was inspired by a bouquet of flowers. In addition to the porcelain plate, the Tea for One Table is made out of solid ash wood and fitted with [colorful waxed cotton strings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumble-tables). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Saucer-embedded Furniture:** Opportunity for creating furniture pieces that incorporate functional elements for specific activities, such as tea time. - **Quirky Decor Touches:** Potential for designing furniture with unique features that add character and individuality to a space. - **Inspired by Nature:** Trend of creating furniture designs that draw inspiration from elements found in the natural world, like flowers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore innovative ways of incorporating functional elements into their creations, like saucer recesses. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for the home decor industry to offer unique furniture pieces that serve as decorative accents and conversation starters. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate nature-inspired furniture designs into their projects to create visually interesting and inviting spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md) - [Curvaceous Abstract Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-table.md) - [Transforming Stool-Integrated Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quartet-side-table.md) - [Puzzling Removable Tray Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-puzzle-table.md) - [Maximalist UFO Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-saucer-coffee-table.md) - [Artful Coffee Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertushka.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Wall-Mounted Two-Legged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instable-side-table.md) - [Compact Functional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table.md)
