# Taxidermy Lighting Alex Randall Lamps Reuse Beastly Flesh By Summer Luu | Published 2010-10-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taxidermy-lighting-alex-randall-lamps-in-its-beastly-flesh References: [coolhunting](http://www.coolhunting.com/design/alex-randall.php) & [alexrandall](http://www.alexrandall.co.uk/detail-ducklamp.php) Alex Randall recreates lighting like no other. Using taxidermy directly in his designs and concepts, Randall creates a stunning vision that is perhaps a little creepy. His collection of lighting includes [duck lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banana-lamp), [antlers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barnacle-wall-sconce) and rats. They are not just simply animal structures with an attached light bulb, but a surreal and raw sight of art and death. Take a look through the gallery to see these beautiful lamps by Alex Randall. **Implications** - If you're someone who has a passion for animals then you'll definitely find the lighting by Alex Randall appealing. I do warn you, however, that if you are someone who is an enthusiast for animals that are alive, you may not be so keen on this design! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Taxidermy Lighting:** This trend presents an opportunity for designers to incorporate taxidermy into lighting designs, creating unique and visually striking pieces. - **Animal-inspired Lighting:** The use of taxidermy in lighting design opens up possibilities for creating animal-inspired lamps that bring a touch of the outdoors indoors. - **Raw and Surreal Art:** The combination of taxidermy and lighting creates an opportunity for artists to explore the raw and surreal aspects of life and death in their work. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage taxidermy lighting to create bold and conversation-starting spaces for their clients. - **Art and Sculpture:** Artists and sculptors can experiment with taxidermy lighting to push boundaries and challenge traditional notions of beauty and art. - **Home Decor:** The taxidermy lighting trend offers home decor retailers the chance to offer unique and unconventional lighting options that cater to a niche market segment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Recycled Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nytt-lys-collection.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Ecological Dual Lampshade Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-light.md) - [Organically Inspired Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-rossau1.md) - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md) - [Coral-Form Lighting Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alherd.md) - [Human Physio-Themed Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dif-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Chic Sculptural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-lighting-design.md)
