# Tree Silhouette Facades Tattoo House by Maynard Architects Provides Foliage Shade By Summer Luu | Published 2010-12-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tattoo-house References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/faux-foliage-fake-tree-facade-for-privacy-shade-decor/) & [maynardarchitects](http://www.maynardarchitects.com/Site/splash.html) Those who don't have trees in their front yard, but want the shade without using curtains, can try this interesting design by Maynard Architects as shown in the Tattoo House. The window treatment all across the [front of the house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-by-the-grove) is a [faux foliage facade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fractal-facade-house) of tree-shaped stickers stuck to the window. What's neat is it lets in just enough sun with a natural shade from the "trees." At night, the Tattoo House window facade emits enough light from around the sticker's shape, making it look like there is foliage inside your house. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Faux Foliage Facades:** Using tree-shaped stickers as a window treatment to provide shade and a natural aesthetic. - **Daylight Manipulation:** Creating innovative window coverings that let in just the right amount of sunlight while still providing shade. - **Illusionary Lighting:** Implementing facade designs that emit light at night, creating the illusion of foliage inside a building. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Opportunity for architects and designers to develop creative and sustainable window treatments using faux foliage facades. - **Home Decor:** Potential for home decor manufacturers to create and market tree-shaped stickers as window coverings for interior design purposes. - **Lighting Design:** Innovation opportunity for lighting designers to develop window facades that emit light at night, providing a unique aesthetic for buildings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Living Landscape Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hedge-and-arbour-house.md) - [Perforated Facade Urban Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/veil-house.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Apple Tree-Surrounding Glass Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acdf.md) - [Terraced Light Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-under-the-poplars.md) - [Tree-Inspired Suburban Tranquil Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-figueira.md) - [Cutout Roof Cement-Clad Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edition-office.md) - [Forest Lantern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iside-home.md) - [Green Roof Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shibanee-kamal.md)
