# Ornate Electronic Carpets Tapete by Federico Uribe is Intricately Rich and Colorful By Meghan Young | Published 2013-03-27 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tapete-by-federico-uribe References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/03/an-ornate-rug-made-entirely-of-computer-parts/) & [federicouribe](http://www.federicouribe.com/) Tapete by Federico Uribe, an artist born in Bogota, Colombia, and based in Miami, Florida, may look like a [rich Persian rug](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/masterpieces-ii), but it is entirely deceiving. Instead of being expertly handwoven out of traditional wool, this [ornate carpet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/discorectangle) is made out of perfectly placed computer components including fans, cables, keyboard keys, motherboards and mice (not of the squeaky variety). A stunning work of art, Tapete by Federico Uribe shows people just how colorful the inner workings of a computer are, not just how complex. Considering the [prevalent pattern used throughout](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/talk-talk), people are also granted a glimpse into the similarity between different computers. On a more general note, however, Tapete by Federico Uribe is beautiful to behold. It deconstructs a cold, hard machine to create something full of warmth and creativity. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Computers](https://www.trendhunter.com/computers) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Ornate Electronic Carpets:** Opportunity for creating innovative electronic home decor products using computer components. - **Colorful Inner Workings:** Potential to explore the aesthetic appeal of technology by showcasing the vibrant components within electronic devices. - **Deconstructing Machines:** Possibility for artists and designers to transform everyday objects into visually captivating and thought-provoking pieces. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Innovation opportunity for integrating technology components into decorative items for homes and offices. - **Art and Design:** Disruptive potential for artists and designers to incorporate unconventional materials and concepts into their work. - **Technology Manufacturing:** Exploration of alternative uses for computer components in creating visually appealing and unique products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Dynamic Flatwoven Carpet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matter-colection.md) - [Flower-Inspired Vibrant Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espressionismo-floreale.md) - [Textile Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olga-de-amaral.md) - [Optical Illusion Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-3d-carpet.md) - [Artful Various Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cctapis.md) - [Hand-Tufted Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floordrobe.md) - [Rapper-Collaborative Artful Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skyline-carpet.md) - [Artistic Gen Alpha Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moooi-carpets.md)
