# iOS-Controlled Toys The 'Tankbot' by Desk Pets is a Fun Alternative to Remote-Controlled Cars By Matt Ho | Published 2011-01-21 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tankbot-by-d References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5737415/your-iphones-accelerometer-can-control-this-tank) & [mydeskpets](http://www.mydeskpets.com/) Looking at the 'Tankbot' by Desk Pets really brings back memories of my remote-controlled cars. The 'Tankbot' is a miniature vehicle integrated by [Apple's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iphone-gaming-controller) accelerometer technology. In other words, you can control this fun toy with an [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turtle-beach-iphone-atom), [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eyetracking-platform) or iPod touch by tilting it in different directions. The 'Tankbot' by Desk Pets also navigates mazes, avoids obstacles and reacts to hand motions via built-in IR sensors. It may not bring you world domination, but the 'Tankbot definitely looks too fun to pass up. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Ios-controlled Toys:** The integration of iOS technology in toys provides a fun and interactive user experience. - **Accelerometer Integration:** The use of accelerometer technology in toys opens up opportunities for intuitive and motion-based control. - **Smart Toy Navigation:** Toys with built-in sensors enable autonomous navigation and interaction with their environment. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Toy Manufacturing:** Toy manufacturers can leverage iOS integration to create innovative and engaging products. - **Electronics Retail:** Electronics retailers have the opportunity to cater to the demand for iOS-controlled toys. - **Augmented Reality Gaming:** The integration of sensors in toys paves the way for immersive augmented reality gaming experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Programmable Robot Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-robots.md) - [Angular Remote-Controlled Tanks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rc-kit.md) - [Programmable Pocket-Sized Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kt2-kungfu-turtle.md) - [Technical Education Car Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gocar.md) - [Camera-Equipped Remote Control Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snt-micro-fpv-car.md) - [Coding Education Car Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-coding-car.md) - [Whimsical Remote-Controlled Car Bags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remotecontrolled-cars.md) - [Rolling Pet Connectivity Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freshrobot-rollbot.md) - [Programming Code-Powered Toy Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zerone-2.md)
