# Race-Ready Tandem Bikes The Tandem Speed Bike is Perfect for Competitive Couples By Michael Hines | Published 2010-05-17 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tandem-speed References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/05/13/tandem-for-speedsters/) I actually own a tandem bicycle, but it is probably no where near as fast as the Tandem Speed bike. Designer Robert Zuchowski must love to go fast, because this tandem bike looks like it could easily lap the competition. Most tandem bikes are built for [leisurely and slow strolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mod-easy-sidecar-3) down the beach or the park. The Tandem Speed ups the competitive ante with it's race-like styling and design. I fully expect to see Lance Armstrong and whatever women he decides to date next riding one of these. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Race-ready Tandem Bikes:** Tandem bikes designed for competitive use. - **Advanced Tandem Bike Design:** Innovations in design for faster and more efficient tandem bikes. - **Couple-focused Cycling Equipment:** Bicycling gear geared towards couples who want to compete together. ### Who This Affects Most - **Sporting Goods:** Companies can invest in high-performance tandem bike designs for competitive riders. - **Fitness:** Fitness companies can focus on providing tandem bikes for couples who want to train and compete together. - **Tourism:** Tourism companies can cater to couples who want to explore tourist destinations on tandem bikes and offer a competitive tandem bike option. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Designer Manual Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/t-bike.md) - [Ultra-Fast Alloy Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allez-sprint.md) - [Two-Seater Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/falcon-ii.md) - [Comfortable Electric Tricycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/two-front-wheel-electric.md) - [Ultra-Stiffened Road Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highperformance-road-bike.md) - [High-Torque E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roadmachine-01-amp-x.md) - [Hyper-Fast Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightning-motorcycles-tachyon-nb.md) - [Tech-Enabled Racing E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/st7-alinghi.md) - [Ergonomic Motorcycle-Inspired E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/g-force-zm.md)
