# Lonely Housewives Tamar Levine Portrays Depressing Domestic Life By Matt Ho | Published 2011-02-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tamar-levine References: [bentrovatoblog](http://bentrovatoblog.com/photography/little-boxes-by-tamar-levine/) & [tamarlevine](http://www.tamarlevine.com/) These stunning pictures by Tamar Levine portray a darker, brooding side of [domestic life](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/this-is-not-a-home) that's a polar opposite of a 1950s family sitcom. Entitled 'Little Boxes,' the series by Tamar Levine captures a chilling, emotionless mother who pays little attention to her child. The [dark settings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/texas-residence) that have a stalker-like quality further heightens the [isolation and depression](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marina-baisel) of Levine's model. The photographer chose the 1960s retro theme specifically to showcase the housewife at a time when domesticity was much more dominant. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Depressing Domestic Life:** Exploring the darker, more isolated side of domesticity through photography, offering an opportunity for disruptive innovation in mental health and therapy services. - **Chilling, Emotionless Mother:** Highlighting the emotional disconnect between mothers and children, creating opportunities for disruptive innovation in parenting education and support. - **Stalker-like Settings:** Using eerie settings to evoke feelings of isolation and fear, presenting opportunities for disruptive innovation in home security systems and surveillance technology. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** Exploring new artistic themes and techniques to capture raw emotions, leading to disruptive innovation in visual storytelling and expressive art forms. - **Mental Health and Therapy Services:** Addressing the emotional challenges depicted in the photographs, offering disruptive innovation in therapy approaches and online mental wellness platforms. - **Parenting Education and Support:** Recognizing the importance of emotional connection and providing disruptive innovation in parenting workshops and online resources. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Suburban-Inspired Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suburbaninspired-art-exhibition.md) - [Faceless Mother Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisible-mothers.md) - [Mock Social Good Fashion Ads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/not-models-own.md) - [Paired-Back Modernist Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modernist-interior.md) - [Personal Nostalgic Photo Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holy-ohio.md) - [Photography Project Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1.md) - [Dramatic Doomsday Bunker Images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alastair-philip-wiper.md) - [Modern Dark Tonal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/texas-residence.md) - [Life Mess-Honoring Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/imperfect-home.md)
