After analyzing a wide variety of cat noises, the Temptations Lab created a 3D-printed collar with a microphone and sensor, as well as built-in Bluetooth technology and Wi-Fi connectivity in order to relay its findings with a [companion app](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisker-tracker). Once the collar captures a cat's meow, it is able to translate what the pet might be trying to say in a language that's better understood by humans. The prototype [talking cat collar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hanami) has now been launched in the United States and New Zealand, providing the chance for pets and their owners to become closer. Temptations global brand director Pete Simmons says: "At the Temptations brand, we are passionate about bringing cats and owners together. We have always done this through our treats, but we wanted to go one step further." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Pet Wearables:** The rise of talking cat collars opens up opportunities for developing more pet wearables for better pet-human communication. - **Smart Home for Pets:** Talking cat collars may pave the way for creating a smart-home environment for pets, with intelligent devices that improve communication with humans. - **Pet Voice Translation:** Pet voice translation is a growing trend that can disrupt the pet industry by creating more opportunities for developing innovative products for pet-human communication. ### Where This Applies - **Pet Industry:** Talking cat collars have the potential to disrupt the pet industry by creating new products and services that cater to enhanced pet-human communication. - **Wearable Technology Industry:** The development of talking cat collars opens up opportunities for companies in the wearable technology industry to explore new markets and develop innovative products for pets. - **Translation Industry:** Pet voice translation is an emerging area in the translation industry, and this new trend can lead to the creation of innovative solutions for real-time translation between pets and humans. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Cat Activity Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-cat-collar.md) - [Pet Communication Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluentpet.md) - [Laser-Emitting Cat Collars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-collar.md) - [Cat-Identifying Smart Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catlink-automatic-feeder.md) - [AI-Powered Pet Collars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shazam-band.md) - [Cat-Tracking Collars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tile-for-cats.md) - [Cat-Friendly Book Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tails-of-irresistibility.md) - [Cat-Themed Vday Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cuddle-collection.md) - [Subscription-Based Pet Doors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onlycat.md)
