# Milky White Abodes Takashi Yamaguchi Designs a Beautiful, Crisp, Clean Minimalist Home By Matt Ho | Published 2011-02-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takashi-yamaguchi References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/skim-milk-house-in-ise-by-takashi-yamaguchi/#more-66454) & [yamaguchi-a.jp](http://www.yamaguchi-a.jp/work_e/06_house_in_ise/page.htm) The 'House in Ise' by Takashi Yamaguchi is one of the cleanest, simplest architectural pieces I've ever seen. There aren't irregular shapes or curves in the design. Instead, Yamaguchi takes a [simple approach with a cuboid shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaulted-monochrome-haus) and paints it in [white, which reflects natural lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nyori) beautifully. The interior emulates the outside by staying within a similar color theme, so the home stays true to the architect's [minimalist vision](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mori-house). Takashi Yamaguchi's design may be simple, but its environment highlights its beauty much like an empty canvas that soon occupies a painting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Architecture:** Architects can explore new techniques and materials to take a more minimalistic approach to design. - **White Color Scheme:** Designers can use white color schemes to emphasize simplicity and natural lighting in their architecture. - **Emulating the Outdoors:** More architects will aim to create designs that seamlessly integrate the outdoors with the interior of a home. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Architects can capitalize on the trend of minimalistic designs and create new housing and commercial options. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can embrace a minimalist white color scheme when curating the look of a room. - **Real Estate:** Real estate agents can promote the beauty of natural lighting in homes with minimalist designs to attract buyers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact White-Painted Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whitepainted-modern-home.md) - [Lofty Minimalist Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-living-space1.md) - [Modern Multi-Purpose Japanese Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muiltipurpose-japanese-building.md) - [Clear Glazing Compact Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/check-patterned-house.md) - [Layered Living Residence Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ymk.md) - [Fish Tank-Inspired Japanese Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nao-iwanari.md) - [Minimalist Concrete Complexes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/residential-project-in-tokyo.md) - [Peaceful Wooden-Designed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-residence.md) - [Traditional Japan-Honoring Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/c4l-house.md)
