The Tado system consists of a compact wall-mounted unit that uses infrared technology to control your air conditioner. It is equipped with six infrared emitting diodes that give it a 180 degree range. This technology means a normal remote control isn't needed, and all functions can be handled by the user's smartphone. In addition to smartphone compatibility, another cool function of the Tado system is [geo-location capability](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lennox-l40-smart-thermostat), which allows the system to track when the last person leaves the home and turn the cooling off to save energy. When a resident is approaching home, Tado turns the air conditioner on to pre-cool the home to the user's preferred temperature. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Smart Air Conditioners:** The Tado Cooling System converts old air conditioners into smart devices, enabling remote control and energy-saving features. - **Infrared Control Technology:** The Tado system utilizes infrared technology to control air conditioners without the need for a remote control, offering convenience and ease of use. - **Geo-location Integration:** The Tado system incorporates geo-location capability to automatically adjust air conditioning based on residents' locations, optimizing energy efficiency. ### Who This Affects Most - **Smart Home Technology:** The Tado Cooling System fits into the smart home industry by providing an innovative solution to upgrade traditional air conditioners. - **Remote Control Devices:** The Tado system disrupts the remote control devices industry by replacing the need for traditional remotes with smartphone compatibility. - **Energy Management Solutions:** The Tado Cooling System offers energy-saving features and automation, positioning itself as a disruptive innovation in the energy management industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Aftermarket AC Controller Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boldr-klima-smart-ac-controller.md) - [Targeted Cooling AC Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-artcool-ai-air.md) - [Advanced Air Conditioning Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-conditioning-system.md) - [Consummately Compact Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-air-conditioner.md) - [Space-Conscious Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comfyair.md) - [Quiet Connected AC Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quiet-connected-ac-systems-the-tcl-qseries-window-air-conditioner-is-easy-t.md) - [Space-Conscious Window AC Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comfyair-window-air-conditioner.md) - [Tech-Driven Home Climate Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-climate-systems.md) - [Sleek Aesthetic Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mijia-air-conditioner.md)
