# Push Pin Rifles This Tack Gun Shoots Ordinary Push Pins at High Speed By David Ingram | Published 2015-10-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tack-gun References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/sniper-rifle-tacks/39642/) & [laser-gadgets](http://www.laser-gadgets.com/) Laser and DIY project enthusiast Patrick Priebe has designed his very own sniper rifle tack gun that shoots ordinary push pins instead of bullets at a high velocity. The project reportedly took Priebe approximately 50 hours to complete, and is essentially a blowgun that has been given an extreme makeover. The [blow dart tube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electronic-throwing-game) serves as the tack gun's barrel and is attached to an aluminium body. The push pins are loaded by hand into the gun's barrel and pushed in with a bolt action lever. The real innovation comes from a [compressed air canister](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpower-turbo-racer) connected to a bicycle tire inflater that blasts a high-powered gust of air when the trigger is pulled. The unique DIY project also features a [laser sight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wonder-fitter-smart-archery-and-shooting) and a high powered scope for aiming making this blow gun on steroids all the more intimidating. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Laser Blow Guns:** The use of laser technology in blow guns could revolutionize DIY projects and add precision to aiming. - **Pushpin Ammunition:** Using push pins as ammunition in firearms presents opportunities for a safer and more accessible form of weaponry. - **Compressed Air Weapons:** Creating firearms powered by compressed air can provide a more sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional firearms. ### Where This Applies - **DIY Tools and Accessories:** The DIY tools and accessories industry can explore new product lines that incorporate laser technology and compressed air systems. - **Firearm Manufacturing:** Firearm manufacturers can consider developing push pin rifles as a niche market for individuals seeking non-lethal options for self-defense. - **Sports and Recreation:** The sports and recreation industry can explore the potential for laser blow guns and pushpin ammunition as a unique and safe recreational activity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Power-Free Water Blasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spyralx.md) - [DIY Wooden Pinball Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-wooden-puzzle.md) - [Clothespin-Inspired Mechanical Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pentapa.md) - [Minimal Paper Sconces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pin-sconce.md) - [Shooting Target Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clockwerk-target-clocks.md) - [Drill-Guiding Laser Attachments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-attachment.md) - [Creator-Backed Toy Guns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mrbeast.md) - [Titanium Maker Screwdrivers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolt-action-screwdriver.md) - [Range-Roving Sniper Scopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sniper-scope.md)
