# Hand-Mounted Tablets Make Handling an iPad More Comfortable With the Tablet Claw By Omar Yusuf | Published 2011-10-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablet-claw References: [geekologie](http://www.geekologie.com/2011/10/tablet-claw-future-of-ipad-holding-comfo.php) & [kickstarter](http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tabletclaw/the-tablet-claw-ipad-and-tablet-grip) The existence of the Tablet Claw mean one less step in the process of using an [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magfree-pro), but what step is it? Holding it. Since its debut appearance at Mac World, the iPad has been referred to as an oversized version of the [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/astropads-new-bookcase) (minus the cellular functionality). So why not hold and use the tablet as though it were a cellphone? The Tablet Claw allows you to realize that potential with its easy-to-use clip and support system. Simply attach the 'claw' to the tablet and slip your fingers through the durable ring and hold the device upright! At first glance, I expected this accessory to be painful to use -- but don't worry, the iPad weighs less than two pounds. The Tablet Claw, however, only exists in concept for the time being and requires some $14,000 in [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moft-dynamic-folio) funds before going public. If you're keen on the idea, why not contribute to the project and earn yourself a free unit? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Hand-mounted Tablets:** The Tablet Claw is a disruptive innovation opportunity that allows for more comfortable handling of iPads by attaching a clip and support system to hold the device upright. - **Clip-on Tablet Accessories:** The Tablet Claw's concept paves the way for a trend of clip-on accessories that enhance the usability and convenience of tablet devices. - **Crowdfunding for Tech Innovations:** The Tablet Claw's Kickstarter campaign demonstrates the trend of using crowdfunding platforms to raise funds for innovative tech products. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Consumer Electronics:** The Tablet Claw presents a disruptive innovation opportunity within the consumer electronics industry by offering a unique accessory for handheld devices. - **Mobile Accessories:** The concept of hand-mounted tablets opens up opportunities for the mobile accessories industry to create innovative and ergonomic solutions for tablet users. - **Crowdfunding Platforms:** The success of the Tablet Claw's Kickstarter campaign highlights the disruptive innovation potential within the crowdfunding platforms industry for supporting tech innovations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gripping Smartphone Mount Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kling-kong-smartphone-kickstand.md) - [Wireless Aluminum Tablet Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magfree-pro.md) - [Alternative Handheld Gaming PCs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-claw.md) - [Sleek Tablet-Transforming Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elago-magnetic-stand-for-ipad.md) - [Adaptable Professional Tablet Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnetic-tablet-stand.md) - [Multipurpose Lifestyle Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iscream-homelearn-book.md) - [Angular Tablet Protector Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pitaka-magez-folio-2.md) - [Mobile Reading Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/astropads-new-bookcase.md) - [Shapeshifting Tablet Workstation Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moft-dynamic-folio.md)
