This piece of furniture looks like a [simple, standard table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table), but it boasts a unique feature making it a must-have for home offices. The Table-Table features 'smart glass' that allows the transparent surface change opaque at the press of a button. Created by Dutch design student [Sabine Marcelis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lisse-sofa-collection), the Table-Table sports a [slim shelf underneath its glass surface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) that clears space to work on while effectively hiding papers and such when the day is done. By discouraging workaholic behavior, the Table-Table puts things in perspective, and allows people to focus on what matters. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Flexible Workspaces:** The transparent transforming desks like Table-Table cater to the growing trend of flexible workspaces, allowing professionals to switch between work and personal life seamlessly. - **Smart Furniture:** The integration of 'smart glass' in Table-Table showcases the trend of smart furniture, opening up disruptive opportunities for the integration of technology in everyday objects. - **Work-life Balance:** The Table-Table design addresses the growing importance of work-life balance, offering a solution for home office workers to easily transition between work and personal time. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can leverage transparent transforming desks like Table-Table by incorporating similar features into their product lines to cater to the needs of remote workers. - **Interior Design:** Interior design industry professionals can explore the disruptive potential of smart furniture and transparent materials in creating versatile and adaptable home office spaces. - **Technology:** The integration of 'smart glass' in Table-Table highlights opportunities for the technology industry to collaborate with furniture designers for creating innovative and functional home office solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Folding Multifunctional Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ignite-desk.md) - [Modular Working Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-working-desk.md) - [Subtly Smart Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/etto-table.md) - [Minimalist Clutter-Free Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parallel-work-table.md) - [Multilevel Minimalist Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-office-table.md) - [Computer-Equipped Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-coffee-table.md) - [Minimalist Gradient Glass Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-desk.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Industrial Shapeshifting Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jointable.md)
