# Transformative Table-Shelves The Convertible Table Shelf by Dot & Bo is a Real Shape-Shifter By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2014-05-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-shelf References: [swiss-miss](http://www.swiss-miss.com/2014/05/a-shelf-table.html) & [dotandbo](http://www.dotandbo.com/collections/living-abroad-atelier-loft/convertible-shelf-table) Dot & Bo's table-shelf is an amazing [dual-purpose furniture piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chameleon-furniture) that does two very different jobs. The one constant in both designs is the iron base, which stays the same. But when you're looking for a change, the [five shelves of the storage unit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf) flatten out and rotate to serve as the tabletop surface. It seems like it would be a hassle to have to clear off the shelves every time you need a flat surface for dining or entertaining, but otherwise, the way the table changes from one piece of furniture to another is really quite impressive. The Convertible Shelf Table by Dot & Bo is priced at just over $1,000, which will make fans of [extremely flexible furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) very happy—not to mention it will totally wow your house guests when they come to visit. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 100% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Convertible Furniture:** Disruptive opportunity: create multi-functional furniture that can easily convert from one form to another. - **Shape-shifting Design:** Disruptive opportunity: experiment with furniture that can change shape to adapt to different uses or spaces. - **Dual-purpose Living:** Disruptive opportunity: design furniture that serves multiple functions to maximize space and convenience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive opportunity: integrate technology and innovative design to create furniture that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive opportunity: offer clients solutions for small-space living through multi-functional, shape-shifting furniture. - **Real Estate:** Disruptive opportunity: market properties that feature space-saving, dual-purpose furniture to attract buyers or renters looking to optimize their space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multifuntional Modular Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-table.md) - [Angular Transforming Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optimus-furniture.md) - [Bookshelf-Incorporated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/overlap-table.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Bent Multi-Functional Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-shell-table.md) - [Reversable Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reverse.md) - [Spinning Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-spinning-coffee-table.md) - [Dual-Position Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-design-concept.md) - [Adaptive Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture.md)
