# Deceptive Seat-Like Tables 'Table, Please Don't Sit' By Resign Looks Like A Chair By Marissa Liu | Published 2010-02-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-please-dont-sit This beautiful glass and metal chair is actually a side table. If the words "Please don't sit" etched into what would be the chair's backrest don't give this away, the design's name, 'Table, please don't sit,' should. 'Table, please don't sit' was designed by Andrea Magnani and Giovanni Delvecchio of the Italian design firm Resign. The delicate glass table would probably make a very precarious seat. The piece is currently available for purchase at Resign's website and retails for $680. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Deceptive Furniture Design:** There is an opportunity to create furniture that appears to be one thing but functions as something else, providing a unique and unexpected user experience. - **Functional Art:** There is a trend toward furniture that is sculptural and visually striking while also serving a practical purpose. - **Multifunctional Home Decor:** There is a growing demand for home decor that serves multiple purposes, such as a side table that can also function as a seat. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The furniture industry can take advantage of the consumer desire for unique, multi-functional and aesthetically pleasing furniture pieces. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can capitalize on the trend for multifunctional items that occupy small spaces within the home. - **Art and Sculpture:** The art industry can explore the demand for functional art pieces such as chairs that double as side tables. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Table-Equipped Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/migo-chair.md) - [Bended Tubular Chair-Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md) - [Unconventional Awkwardly Seated Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uncomfortable-table.md) - [Simplistically Shaped Geometric Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sitter-chair.md) - [Curvaceous Abstract Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-table.md) - [Cubic Featherlight Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/please-hold-up-chair.md) - [Rocking Table-Mounted Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espattio-platero-rocking-table.md) - [Artfully Balanced Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfway-serious.md)
