# Suspended Box Storage Systems Synapse by Alexandra Denton Offers an Unusual Setup for Stashing By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/synapse-by-alexandra-denton References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2013/02/SYNAPSE.html) & [cargocollective](http://cargocollective.com/alexandradenton/SYNAPSE) Considering Synapse by Alexandra Denton is a piece of furniture intended to help contain clutter, it's curious to see that the form it takes is rather chaotic itself. Of course, this is not a negative criticism of the [unique shelving unit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving), but it's simply a observation that underlines its singular character. The designer began by constructing a frame from wooden posts to form a three-footed triangular prism. Held together by [tubular metal joints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sfso-1), the whimsical storage solution has been strung with strong cords that connect to a cluster of [hanging bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flutterbox). The cubbies are perfect cubes and connect to the structure by three strings each. Synapse by Alexandra Denton is a practical metaphor for the way that memories and information are stored and accessed in the brain. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Suspended Box Storage Systems:** The trend of suspended box storage systems offers a unique and unconventional way to contain clutter. - **Whimsical Storage Solutions:** Whimsical storage solutions, like Synapse by Alexandra Denton, provide a playful and visually interesting alternative to traditional shelving units. - **Metaphorical Design Elements:** Incorporating metaphorical design elements, such as Synapse's representation of memory storage, offers innovative opportunities to create meaningful and thought-provoking products. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can explore the incorporation of suspended box storage systems to cater to customers seeking unique and visually appealing storage solutions. - **Home Organization:** The home organization industry can embrace whimsical storage solutions to attract customers looking for innovative ways to declutter and organize their living spaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals can leverage metaphorical design elements to create captivating and symbolic spaces that evoke emotions and engage with the concept of memory and storage. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Colorful Modular Storage Sysem](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/center-center-storage.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Design-Forward Interlinked Storage Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interlinked-storage.md) - [Artisanal Interior Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dice-design-system.md) - [Living Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treevive.md) - [Elevated Desktop Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storage-and-display-tray-system.md) - [Adaptable Organizer Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-square-organizer.md) - [Progressive Storage Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-prt-collection.md)
