# Bamboo Forest-Inspired Interiors Sybarite Designed 'Yen' to Look Like Tranquil Asian Woodlands By Joey Haar | Published 2017-11-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sybarite References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2017/11/28/sybarite-bases-japanese-restaurant-interior-on-bamboo-forests-london/) & [yen-london](https://yen-london.co.uk/) [Bamboo forests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazon-rainforest-pavilion) are an enchanting aspect of the natural environment throughout Asia, and Sybarite, a London design studio, took those woodlands as inspiration for the interior of 'Yen', a [high-end soba restaurant](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ginza-41) on the River Thames. The new restaurant is the second franchise, with the first being located in Paris. It doesn't take much hunting to see the inspiration behind Yen. Sybarite used [various colors of wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotel-elyse-montmartre) as the core material, with thin beams stretching out from the walls and down from the ceiling throughout the whole restaurant. When viewed from a distance, the ultimate effect is one of limbs crisscrossing one another in much the same way as arcing, fully grown bamboo stalks. Further, the studio covered several wall portions with a richly colored camouflage pattern that mimics the palette of dense forests in autumn. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Bamboo-inspired Interiors:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate bamboo-inspired elements in their designs, creating a tranquil and nature-inspired atmosphere. - **Nature-inspired Camouflage Patterns:** Opportunity for textile and wallpaper industries to develop nature-inspired camouflage patterns for use in interior design, bringing the beauty of forests into living spaces. - **Asian-inspired High-end Restaurants:** Opportunity for entrepreneurs to open high-end restaurants that draw inspiration from Asian aesthetics and create unique dining experiences. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for interior designers to explore bamboo-inspired themes in their projects, transforming spaces into serene and nature-inspired environments. - **Textile:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for textile manufacturers to create nature-inspired camouflage patterns that can be used in interior design, offering a unique and natural aesthetic to consumers. - **Hospitality:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry to create high-end dining experiences that incorporate Asian-inspired elements, attracting customers with a unique and culturally immersive atmosphere. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canter-and-gallop.md) - [Luscious Dining Bars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ful-kyoto.md) - [Bamboo-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-forest-glss.md) - [Japanese Archipelago Resto Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/labysse-monte-carlo.md) - [Earthy Palette Fine-Dining Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/logy.md) - [Bamboo Screen-Wrapped Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nh-t-garden-restaurant.md) - [Ominous Interior Sushi Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-restaurant.md) - [Japanese Minimalist-Inspired Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fifteen-east.md) - [Exterior-Inspired Restaurant Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terra-restaurant.md)
