This innovation aims to extend the Swiss museum's reputation for fascinating young and old visitors alike since it opened in 1969. Within the dome, which has a projection area of 508 square meters, visitors are treated to breathtaking sights of the sky and the solar system, and discover principles and discoveries from the world of astronomy. A maximum of 230 visitors can enjoy the projections at a time. The technology was designed in part by Swiss company Auviso. Auviso used special P-5 wash lights to illuminate the planetarium. These lights are equipped with an optimized cooling system and a control mechanism that allows for flicker-free operation. This is hugely important so as to not interfere with the [astronomical projections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Science](https://www.trendhunter.com/science) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Enhanced Planetarium Experiences:** The refurbished planetarium at the Swiss Museum of Transport sets a trend for immersive and visually stunning astronomical projections. - **Advanced Illumination Technology:** The use of specialized P-5 wash lights by Swiss company Auviso showcases a trend towards optimized cooling and flicker-free operation in planetariums. - **Interactive Learning in Planetariums:** The 18-meter high dome with a projection area of 508 square meters encourages a trend towards interactive and educational experiences for visitors at the Swiss Museum of Transport. ### Where This Applies - **Museum & Exhibition:** The refurbishment of the Swiss Museum of Transport's planetarium reflects a disruptive innovation opportunity for the museum and exhibition industry to enhance visitor engagement through immersive technology. - **Lighting & Technology:** The specialized P-5 wash lights used in the planetarium highlight a disruptive innovation opportunity for the lighting and technology industry to provide optimized cooling and flicker-free operation in various applications. - **Education & Entertainment:** The interactive learning experience provided by the Swiss Museum of Transport's planetarium creates a disruptive innovation opportunity for the education and entertainment industry to combine immersive visuals with educational content. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Immersive Dome Exhibit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumisphere-experience.md) - [Miniature Astronomy Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-planetarium.md) - [Miniature Spherical Replica Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-sphere.md) - [Optimized Short-Throw Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optimized-shortthrow-projector.md) - [Hyper High-Resolution Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyper-highresolution-camera.md) - [Galactic-Themed Sci-Fi Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-cloud.md) - [Crystal-Clear Smart Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-telescopes.md) - [Ultraviolet Topographic Passports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switzerland-passport.md) - [Celestial Ceiling Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmobile.md)
