# Vibrant Swirling Illustrations This Illustrator's Art Prints Imagine an Abstract New World By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-07-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swirling-illustrations References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2016/07/new-swirling-psychedelic-illustrations-by-james-r-eads/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [jamesreadsmerch](http://www.jamesreadsmerch.com/collections/art-prints) The swirling illustrations created by artist James R. Eads aim to explore humankind's relationship to the natural world. The [vibrant multi-colored pieces of art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer) reflect a world run by imagination in which space is combined with architecture, animals are used to reflect music and the moon sits peacefully among nature and man-made objects. The "swirling" effect the artist uses to represent the body of a dragon and wind in the night sky is clearly reminiscent of Van Gogh's 'The Starry Night.' The use of these "swirls" are both inspired by and a salute to the famous artist. Based in LA, the artist is heavily influenced by music and is sought-after to create posters for popular rock bands. The swirling illustrations created by James Eads beautifully represent a world that exists solely in his imagination. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Imaginative Illustrations:** The swirling illustrations created by James Eads beautifully represent a world that exists solely in his imagination. - **Nature-inspired Art:** Eads' vibrant multi-colored pieces of art explore humankind's relationship to the natural world. - **Music-influenced Design:** The artist's heavy influence from music has led to sought-after poster creations for popular rock bands. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** The imaginative illustrations by James Eads provide disruptive innovation opportunities in the art and design industry. - **Music and Entertainment:** Eads' music-inspired designs open up disruptive innovation opportunities in the music and entertainment industry. - **Event Promotion and Advertising:** The artist's sought-after poster creations offer disruptive innovation opportunities in the event promotion and advertising industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [Hand-Painted Watercolor Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emma-webster.md) - [Physics-Informed Digital Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion-sculpture.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Classical Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sen-donnan.md) - [Vibrant Interactive Digital Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-digital-artwork.md) - [Eclipse-Themed Rooftop Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-zero.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md)
