# Hanging Basket-Like Beds The Swingrest by Daniel Pouzet is Sophisticated and Cozy By Meghan Young | Published 2012-05-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swingrest-by-daniel-pouzet References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2012/05/07/swingrest-by-daniel-pouzet-for-dedon/) & [danielpouzet](http://www.danielpouzet.com/) The Swingrest by Daniel Pouzet is like a giant basket that has had its top half sheared off to form a contemporary [hanging bed](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roundish-bed). It is one of the first products to emerge from Dedon Island resort, the company's [Outdoor Living Lab](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olive-citron) in Siargao, The Philippines. The Paris-based designer, who is also the co-architect and designer of Dedon Island, was inspired by the extra-high ceilings of the resort’s villas when creating this furniture piece. As spacious as the setting it is placed in, the Swingrest by Daniel Pouzet is a simple concept that does not compromise its cozy purpose. The [suspension system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switra-swisstrail), rotating Corian tabletop and specially-created cord add a sense of sophistication. It is available in a natural colored weave. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Contemporary Hanging Bed:** Opportunity for innovative designs in suspended furniture for relaxation and comfort. - **Outdoor Living Lab:** Potential for creating experimental spaces to test and develop innovative outdoor furniture concepts. - **Sophisticated Suspension System:** Space for advancements in suspension systems that provide both functionality and elegance in furniture design. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Room for disruptive designs that offer unique and comfortable furniture solutions for outdoor and indoor spaces. - **Hospitality:** Potential for incorporating innovative furniture concepts in resorts and hotels to enhance guest experiences and comfort. - **Outdoor Recreation:** Opportunity for developing innovative outdoor furniture that offers relaxation and comfort in nature. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Structural Outdoor Bedes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hut-lounge-bed.md) - [Minimalist Outdoor Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-swing.md) - [Curvaceous Outdoor Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/niu-swing.md) - [Beachside Modern Daybed Setups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contour-daybed.md) - [Stylishly Modern Daybeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-daybed.md) - [Peaceful Geometric Hanging Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iko-hanging-chair.md) - [Outdoor Lounging Rocking Hammocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panama-banana.md) - [Scandinavian-Inspired Floating Daybeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poolsofa.md) - [Playground-Inspired Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swing-seat.md)
