The stilt format allows the home to be raised off the rocky ground, while the roof is supported by a timber framework. The home also features a wooden balcony to better appreciate the seaside view. Inside the home, an open-concept kitchen and living area offers views of the Fjord. The space also opens out to a nestled patio area, accessed by a set of sliding glass doors. The interior, which features walls lined with exposed fir, is purposefully sparse and minimal, in an effort to maintain a connection with nature. The home, which is surrounded by older residences, is part of a [family-owned seasonal retreat complex](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ely-retreat). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Barrel-vaulted Roofs:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new building materials and techniques for constructing durable and cost-effective barrel-vaulted roofs. - **Stilt Homes:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design and construct innovative stilt homes that can be easily elevated off rocky or uneven terrain. - **Minimalist Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create sustainable and eco-friendly interior design solutions that prioritize simplicity and connection with nature. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Construction:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce technological advancements and sustainable practices to revolutionize the construction industry, particularly in building homes on challenging landscapes. - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new architectural designs and materials that can be used to build modern and eco-friendly homes in scenic locations. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative interior design solutions that promote minimalism, sustainability, and a harmonious connection with nature. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Natural Material Stilted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yngsj.md) - [Coastal Summer Calm Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hors.md) - [Serene Timeless Minimal Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-hkarn.md) - [Tar-Coated Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-tjurpannan.md) - [Blocky Structural Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sa-hjort.md) - [Monolithic Sleek Summer Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vollerup-atrium.md) - [Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/restua.md) - [Scandinavian Stone Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mountain-chamber.md) - [Lakeside Thatched Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/summer-house-1.md)
