# Pastel Desert Restaurants Note Design Studio Gives this Swedish Restaurant an Upgrade By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-08-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swedish-restaurant References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/08/24/note-design-studio-finefood-karlek-och-mat-desert-colours-stockholm-bistro/) & [notedesignstudio.se](http://notedesignstudio.se/) Stockholm-based [Note Design Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-apartment-interior) was inspired by an unlikely source when renovating the interior for 'FineFood Kärlek och Mat,' a Swedish [restaurant and coffee shop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-mediterranean-restaurant) located in Stockholm. The designers looked at images of Death Valley, a [desert basin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vipp-x-studio-ko) that's described as "the land of extremes," in order to come up with a palette of mint and teal, paired with coral and salmon hues. The images came from a series by artist Jordan Sullivan, who faithfully documented the landscape. The desert-inspired pastels, which introduce a sense of serenity to the space, are complemented by lightweight furniture. The bar and counter tops are clad in a green Guatremale marble throughout. Finally, natural light enters and brightens the interior through a series of full-aspect windows. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Pastel Desert Interiors:** Designing interiors using a palette of mint and teal, paired with coral and salmon hues inspired by the desert landscapes in Death Valley and other arid regions. - **Natural-light Accentuation:** Incorporating full-aspect windows to brighten up interior spaces and make them look more visually appealing. - **Lightweight Furniture Pieces:** Using lightweight furniture that is not only visually appealing but also extremely functional and easy to move around in different settings. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Hospitality Industry:** Revamping restaurant spaces with unique and creative designs that appeal to customers and offer them a pleasant dining experience. - **Interior Design Industry:** Incorporating natural light and desert-inspired pastels as a way to create unique and beautiful interiors for homes, offices, and other settings. - **Furniture Industry:** Innovating and creating new lightweight furniture pieces that can be easily moved around and used in different settings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Famed Paintings-Covered Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frescohallen.md) - [Elegant Restaurant Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elegant-restaurant-interior1.md) - [Minimally Designed Revamped Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/etch-restaurant.md) - [Redesigned Desert Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palm-springs-residence.md) - [Artful Soft-Pink Dining Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-gallery-at-sketch.md) - [Golden-Hour Café Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caf-goldie.md) - [Retro Sandwich Diners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/renzo-sandwich.md) - [Colombian Home-Transformed Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/martn-mendoza.md) - [Cinematically Designed Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daphne-restaurant.md)
