Sweden's Icehotel is a truly [unique hotel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/populus-hotel), located in the town of Jukkasjarvi, that is literally made of ice, meaning it melts away each year and is replaced by a different structure in the following season. Now however, the site is set to be made even more appealing and versatile with the addition of a permanent solar-powered hotel that will be open year-round, so guests can continue visiting the site when the Icehotel itself isn't operational.

This new solar-powered hotel will be operated using [solar energy harvested](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-energy-technology) during the sunny summer months, making use of the vast daylight available up north during that time of year.

Sweden's Icehotel will begin operating its solar-powered sibling at the end of 2016, and will enable guests to enjoy the site all year round.
