Situated on a 38-acre ridge-top property, the residence demonstrates meticulous sensitivity to its natural surroundings through design choices that preserve mature oak, redwood, and madrone trees while minimizing topographic disruption. The sinuous driveway, constructed with board-formed concrete retaining walls that follow existing land contours, reflects this ecological mindfulness by protecting root systems and native vegetation. At 8,500 square feet, the three-level structure integrates seamlessly with the landscape through strategic placement that avoids extensive grading, while architectural elements like a roof opening accommodating an existing oak tree symbolize the project's philosophical commitment to coexistence with the ecosystem. The residence's interior spaces achieve a balance of sophistication and connection to nature through expansive glass walls that flood rooms with natural light and create fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor environments. A central glass bridge and sculptural 'Braille' wall serve as striking transitional elements that play with spatial compression between functional areas.
