# Re-Imagined Barn Houses The Swallowfield Barn is a Unique Take on Classic Rural Outbuildings By Madison Mackay | Published 2018-04-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swallowfield-barn References: [uncrate](https://uncrate.com/swallowfield-barn/) & [motivarchitects](http://www.motivarchitects.ca/work/#/swallowfield/) MOTIV Architects created the Swallowfield Barn in British Colombia -- a [modern take on the classic design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-comet) that is submerged in gardens, pastures and orchards. The new structure closely resembles a traditional barn with a simple design and [verticle light timber cladding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-w-1) that contrasts the modern gabled roof. The ground floor features a workshop that acts as both a [space for creating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/schack-arkitektur) and a home for animals. The top floor resembles a classic hayloft, providing staring for the fodder as well as a large living area for relaxation. The Swallowfield Barn seamlessly blends modern design with a classic intention, working as a fully functioning farm necessity.
