San Francisco-based studio SB Architects designed the '[Hillside House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hillside-house-1),' a highly sustainable property located across from the Golden Gate Bridge, in Mill Valley, California. The international office is recognized for their site-sensitive work, which incorporates both quality design and high sustainability.

The home is perched upon a [steep hillside](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capuchinas-house), necessitating a vertical design plan. The architects arranged the home over four-storeys, with private and public living spaces located on different floors of the residence. Several [covered outdoor terraces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monterey-home) allow for inclusive views of the San Francisco skyline.

The LEED Platinum custom home is clad in Western red cedar and features low-flow plumbing appliances, recycled interior concrete, sustainably produced stone veneers and harvested flooring. These are just a few of the green elements that make the home a sustainable option.
