# Hanging Geodesic Seats These Suspended Seats are Perfect for Lounging in the Great Outdoors By Ady Floyd | Published 2015-06-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suspended-seats References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/kodama-zomes-hanging-geodesic-seats-beds/) & [kodamazomes](http://www.kodamazomes.com/) The 'Kodama Zome' suspended seats are a geodesic, [hammock-like structure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anymaka-hammock-tent). They resemble an over-sized cage made of polyester webbing and stainless steel. The suspended seats are an ideal accessory for [outdoor lounging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-outdoor-furniture). They can act as a cozy seat to catch some sun or read a book and are large enough to act as an incredibly comfy outdoor bed. Each Kodama Zome has a custom mattress and cushions available in a variety of colors and patterns. It also has a covering system made of mesh that is perfect for star-gazing without the interference of bugs. The Kodama Zome is suspended from a pole located at the top center of each seat. Three legs extend to surround the seat like a spider to allow the piece of furniture to hang in any location. Designer Richie Duncan created the seats using 3D engineering software. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Suspended Seats:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop suspended seat designs with advanced materials for enhanced comfort and durability. - **Geodesic Structures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore geodesic structure applications in other industries such as architecture, construction, and event venues. - **Outdoor Lounging:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce technology-infused outdoor lounging solutions incorporating features like built-in speakers or solar-powered chargers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate suspension elements into traditional furniture designs to create unique and ergonomic seating solutions. - **Outdoor Recreation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop outdoor recreational products that offer suspended seating options, catering to the growing demand for comfort and functionality. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate suspended seats as unconventional yet stylish interior design elements, enhancing spatial aesthetics and flexibility. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Featherlight Hammock Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-hammock.md) - [Modern Cushioned Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-outdoor-seating.md) - [Minimalist Outdoor Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-swing.md) - [Playground-Inspired Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swing-seat.md) - [Heavy-Duty Hammock Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heavyduty-hammock-tent.md) - [Precariously Suspended Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suspended-sofa.md) - [Vehicle-Mounted Hammock Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outpost-overland-hammock-stand.md) - [Shaded Modern Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-shelter.md) - [Sculptural Outdoor Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-outdoor-furniture.md)
