# Saggy Skin Sculptures John Isaac Gives The Finger To Art With Crude Uniqueness By Cowbag | Published 2009-05-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-sculptures-john-isaac-gives-the-finger-to-art References: [cakeheadlovesevil](http://cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress.com/2009/05/23/john-isaacs-sculptural-genius/) The head of a [dead unicorn](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog), furless goats (Scape Goat) and dead, obese human beings all form part of John Isaac’s portfolio. Put it this way, you would need a very strong stomach to live with some of his more powerful pieces in your home. Stage blood is listed a lot as a medium for his mixed media works. All of his pieces are varied and, in my opinion, brilliant. The [black sculpted bronze hand](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kennedy-yanko) giving the one fingered salute is titled “From a distance you are smaller… But I know that you are there.” I also like his [neon piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) “What lies behind what lies before.” ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Morbid Art:** An opportunity for disruptive innovation within the art industry to create unique and controversial pieces that challenge societal norms. - **Mixed Media Sculptures:** A trend for creating sculptures that use unconventional materials and techniques, encouraging innovation and experimentation in the art world. - **Provocative Imagery:** A trend towards using shocking or controversial imagery in art, opening up opportunities for artists to push boundaries and challenge viewers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fine Arts:** Fine arts industry can perceive a high influx of new artists and buyers that enjoy and value unique, controversial and provocative art. - **Sculpture:** The sculpture industry can use this trend as a focal point to create disruption by using mixed media and unconventional materials to make thought-provoking imagery. - **Neon Art:** Neon art industry has an opportunity to expand its scope by creating a diverse set of artwork that features unconventional content, taking inspiration from John Isaac's work. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Artful Anime-Blending Split Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Wooden Identity Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hughmanity.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Fantasy Sculptural Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chris-wolston.md) - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md)
