# Surreal Reality-Bending Photographs These Surreal Photographs Put an Imaginative Twist on Emotions By Lacey-Jane Walsh | Published 2013-05-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-photographs References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/hannah-chu-photography) & [hannahchurbonmade](http://hannahchu.carbonmade.com/) Talented photographer Hannah Chu produces surreal photographs that are like a journey through a wide range of emotions. These fantasy world photos are centered around feelings like longing, sadness and curiosity. One of these captures portrays a miniature cross-legged woman being comforted by a [wooden doll](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1). In about half of these reality-bending captures, the model appears miniature. In another micro-woman capture, the viewer sees a Thumbelina-sized girl [sitting in an open book](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amusebouche) and reading. Another of these stunning surreal photographs portrays the same woman happily hovering above a pile of leaves. My personal favorite is the picture of the floating woman in the gorgeous house surrounded by water. Each of these imaginative captures is like a beautiful day dream thought up by Hannah Chu. These adventurous captures are both whimsical and fun. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Surreal Photography:** Opportunity for photographers and artists to explore new ways of capturing emotions through imaginative and reality-bending photographs. - **Emotional Journey:** Opportunity for creative professionals to create immersive experiences that evoke a wide range of emotions through visual storytelling. - **Miniature World:** Opportunity for designers and filmmakers to create and explore miniature worlds in their work, blurring the line between reality and imagination. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Photography:** Opportunity for artists and photographers to push the boundaries of traditional photography and embrace surreal elements. - **Entertainment and Media:** Opportunity for filmmakers and content creators to incorporate surreal elements in their productions and captivate audiences with imaginative storytelling. - **Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality:** Opportunity for VR/AR developers to create immersive experiences that transport users into surreal and emotionally-charged worlds. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Mesmerizing Sculpture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mesmerizing-sculpture.md) - [Artsy Surrealist Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gohar-world.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md)
