# Disgusting Surgical Desserts This Surgery Cake Emulates the Look of an Open Intestinal Operation By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-05-09 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surgery-cake References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/Surgery_Cake--Food--Body.html) & [crackajack.de](http://www.crackajack.de/2013/05/07/surgery-cake-with-guts/) People are largely impressed by successful sculptural cakes that are modeled on inedible objects, and this Surgery Cake would certainly stir up some intense reactions. Depicting a fairly realistic (as realistic as one can achieve with flour, sugar and icing) spread of a massive abdominal operation, the dessert might be more likely to cause the expulsion of the contents of your stomach, rather than entice you to fill your tummy. This is really a compliment to the baker behind the Surgery Cake, for this sort of real-life scene would be no more appetizing. Here, you can see fake skin in fondant that's been peeled back to reveal a mess of removable truffle intestines that appear pink and bloody. For added effect, surgical tools like scalpels surround the body, as does a folded dark green cloth that's reminiscent of an operating theater. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gruesome Anatomy Desserts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fungas-toe-nail-cookies.md) - [Gruesome Recipe Sites](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halloween-recipes.md) - [Disgusting Deliciousness](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goulish-food-that-tries-to-makes-you-feel-sick.md) - [Unappetizing Edibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/food-mourn.md) - [Zebra Flesh Wraps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ads-for-man-vs-wild.md) - [Tasty Undead Epidermises](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edible-dried-zombie-skin.md) - [Confined Cranium Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brains-in-a-jar-cupcakes.md) - [Moldy Employee Meals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-fridges.md) - [Bizarre Food Hybrids](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spaghetti-tacos.md)
