In September, [Tesla](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tesla-diner) announced that it will be designing upscale convenience stores to accompany charging stations - an idea that has now expanded after the innovator announced through [Twitter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tesla-solar-range-extending-trailer) that a Tesla Supercharger location in L.A will come equipped with a retro drive-in, and an old school roller skating facility. According to Tesla's chief technology officer J.B Straubel. “People are coming and spending 20 to 30 minutes at the charger stations. They want to eat, they want to have a cup of coffee, and they want to use the bathroom.” While the idea is only a proposal, it represents the ways in which high-end vehicles are altering the every day experience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Upscale EV Charging Stations:** Offering amenities and experiences at EV charging stations increases the appeal and convenience of owning an electric vehicle. - **Integration of Entertainment and Retail with EV Charging:** Integrating entertainment and retail experiences with EV charging stations presents an opportunity to create a niche market within the EV industry. - **Consumer Expectations of Convenience and Value:** The demand for amenities and value-added services at EV charging stations highlights a shift in consumer expectations towards more convenient and comprehensive experiences. ### Where This Applies - **Electric Vehicle (EV) Manufacturing:** Manufacturers of electric vehicles could collaborate with retail and entertainment industries to create more appealing and valuable charging experiences for customers, differentiating their product from competitors. - **Retail and Entertainment:** Retail and entertainment companies could expand into the EV charging market by incorporating charging stations with their existing offerings, catering to a niche market of EV owners who value convenience and entertainment experiences. - **Urban Planning and Infrastructure:** Urban planners and infrastructure companies could consider the integration of EV charging stations into their plans and designs, recognizing the growing demand for convenient and accessible charging infrastructure in cities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nostalgic Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-tesla-diner.md) - [EV Brand Diner Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tesla-diner.md) - [Experiential EV Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/porsche-charging-lounge.md) - [Scalable EV Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epit-ultra-fast-charging-station.md) - [Futuristic Tech-Led Diners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/futuristic-diner.md) - [QSR Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chargenet.md) - [Dedicated Electric Vehicle Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-vehicle-station.md) - [Unwinding Multifunctional Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/better-energy-charge.md) - [Convenience Store Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/recharge-by-gelsons.md)
