# Warped Gamer Chronographs The Super Mario Spiral Clock Keeps Time Using Classic Characters By Michael Hines | Published 2012-08-20 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-spiral-clock References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2012/08/19/super-mario-spiral-clock/) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/95964838/super-mario-brothers-spiral-dali) There may not be a better housewarming gift for a geek than the Super Mario spiral clock. This custom clock was created by Etsy merchant Backstreetcrafts and features some of the series' most iconic characters in all of their 8-bit glory. The Super Mario spiral clock is perhaps the only clock that will let you tell time using Yoshi and Mario. Telling time is a little tricky at first on account of the clock's warped face. Upon closer inspection you'll see that all of the characters in the spiral are repeated in the same order, meaning that you can tell the time using any of the marked circles. Backstreetcrafts is selling the Super Mario spiral clock for 25 gold coins, or $25 in non-geek speak. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.4/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Custom Clocks:** Opportunity to create unique and personalized clocks featuring iconic characters for niche markets. - **Geek-inspired Home Decor:** Creating home decor items that appeal to geek culture, such as the Super Mario spiral clock. - **Retro Gaming Merchandise:** Meeting the demand for nostalgic and collectible gaming merchandise, like the Super Mario spiral clock. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Handmade Crafts:** Crafting and selling unique handmade items, including custom clocks, on platforms like Etsy. - **Home Decor:** Designing and manufacturing home decor products that cater to specific niche markets, such as geek-inspired decor. - **Gaming Merchandise:** Producing and selling retro gaming merchandise for enthusiasts and collectors, leveraging iconic characters from classic games. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Video Game-Inspired Homewares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-home-adventure-life.md) - [Nostalgic 3D-Printed Arcade Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcade-clock.md) - [Motion-Sensing Alarm Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-sound-clock-alarmo.md) - [Pixelated Flip-Style Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniot-klapklok.md) - [Shooting Target Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clockwerk-target-clocks.md) - [Tubular Illuminating Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacetime-blade.md) - [Anime Skateboard Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/my-neighbor-totoro-skateboard-clock.md) - [Gaming Star Toppers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invincibility-star.md) - [Video Game Travel Merchandise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-super-mario-travel-items.md)
