Dustin Carpenter built the room by himself, which took him between 60 to 70 hours, after his daughter initially wanted a bat cave painted inside her room. Instead, they opted for a room filled with her favorite Super Mario characters, include Mario, Yoshi, Bowser, Boo and Goombas. Carpenter hand-painted the entire Super Mario bedroom by himself, including the intricate detail of the bricks and the classic question mark squares where the iconic red mushrooms sprout out from, and only required help in painting the blue base color that makes up the background sky. The room even has various switches around the room that plays classic sounds such as the Super Mario theme song, and the "dum dum dum" sound when Mario enters the green tube to a secret underground lair. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Themed Bedrooms:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating customizable themed bedrooms for children based on their favorite video games or characters. - **Hand-painted Room Designs:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Offering hand-painted room designs as a unique and personalized home decor option. - **Interactive Room Features:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating interactive elements into room designs, such as sound effects and hidden switches, for an immersive experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Expanding the interior design industry by incorporating video game-inspired themes and interactive features into room designs. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introducing customizable and hand-painted room decor options that cater to individual preferences and interests. - **Children's Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating furniture specifically designed for themed bedrooms, offering a unique and engaging experience for children. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Video Game-Inspired LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunscreen-mist.md) - [Video Game Character Cafes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toadstool-cafe.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Hovercrafts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-kart-hovercraft.md) - [Gaming Console Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-cart-coffe-table.md) - [Video Game-Themed Play Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rideon-racer.md) - [Animated Game-Inspired Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rainbow-road.md) - [Cozy Video Game Loungewear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-meets-gelato-pique.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-bros-wonder-1.md) - [Video Game-Themed Pixel Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixel-art-collection.md)
