# Timelapse Drawing Films This Super Mario 3D Chalk Art Jumps Off the Street By Cody Turner | Published 2012-07-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-3d-chalk-art References: [designbridge](http://www.designbridge.com/blog/friday-favourites-44/) & [chriscarlsonco.tumblr](http://chriscarlsonco.tumblr.com/) Three-demensional artwork is often hard to produce perfectly, but for this artist, creating his 3D Super Mario Chalk Art piece seems to come naturally and with great precision. Denver, Colorado, painter Chris Carlson has produced a four minute timelapse video of his recent [sidewalk chalk drawing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) of the loveable character Super Mario. The video was shot over a period of 11 hours and features Chris drawing a 3D Super Mario jumping over an old-school [Nintendo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rainbow-road) remote controller. Starting from a simple square on the sidewalk, Chris uses a ruler to plan out his drawing and his fingers to blend the chalk smoothly. His personal blog contains many more 3D chalk drawings that equal the precision at which he draws the 3D Super Mario Chalk Art piece. Furthermore, the Super Mario music that accompanies the video is perfect! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Three-dimensional Artwork:** Opportunity to explore new techniques for creating realistic and immersive 3D art experiences. - **Timelapse Videos:** Disruptive potential to showcase artistic processes and captivate audiences through fast-paced visual storytelling. - **Chalk Art:** Innovation opportunities in creating temporary and interactive art installations using chalk as a medium. ### Where This Applies - **Visual Arts:** Potential for artists to push boundaries and redefine traditional art forms with the integration of technology and new mediums. - **Entertainment:** Chances to engage and entertain audiences through visually stunning and time-lapse video content that showcases artistic creations. - **Event Marketing:** Opportunities to create memorable and interactive experiences for events by incorporating temporary artwork like 3D chalk drawings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Animated Game-Inspired Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rainbow-road.md) - [Video Game-Themed Pixel Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixel-art-collection.md) - [Holographic Video Game Characters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protohologram.md) - [Video Game-Inspired LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunscreen-mist.md) - [Confectionary-Inspired Chalks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sparkling-macaron-sidewalk-chalk.md) - [Miniature Artful Hip-Hop Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danny-cortes.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Homewares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-home-adventure-life.md) - [Artful Cartoonish Canal Bridges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canal-skybridge.md) - [Mural Design Assistants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-by-squares.md)
