Created by Brazil-based designer Igor Leal, the concept office was designed for a client in Rio de Janeiro and is intended to be fitted into the [garden of a residential home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workshed). This is achieved by going below the ground surface without affecting how the property looks from afar. The 'Sunken Studio' offers more than 505 square feet, and is accented by a [living roof](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof) on the exterior along with a meeting table, kitchenette, bathroom and more inside. A small courtyard just outside of the space has a small bench for taking breaks between activities. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Subterranean Home Offices:** Innovative office designs that allow workers to have a separate, dedicated space for work while staying at home. - **Garden-based Offices:** Designing offices that can be fitted into the gardens of residential homes, providing workers with a closer connection to nature while working. - **Living Roofs:** Using green roofs to add aesthetic appeal and natural elements to office spaces while also providing environmental benefits such as reducing heat absorption. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Residential Construction:** Builders and architects can consider creating customizable home office solutions as part of their residential construction services. - **Gardening and Landscaping:** Developers can collaborate with gardening and landscaping companies to create office designs that are tailored to fit into garden spaces, providing a seamless integration of nature and work. - **Sustainable Architecture:** This trend can provide an opportunity for sustainable architects to incorporate eco-friendly materials and renewable energy sources into the designs, providing a more sustainable approach for home offices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Remote Work-Catering Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-plow.md) - [Underground Autonomous Shelter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plan-b-1.md) - [Minimalist Private Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarlux-soundproof-space.md) - [Illuminated Cave-Like Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/javier-senosiain-arquitectos.md) - [Partially Buried Tranquil Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-under-the-ground.md) - [Micro Backyard Work Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-office.md) - [Excavated Underground Living Space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hideaway-house.md) - [Nature-Inspired Geometric Office Domes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dzome.md) - [Quirky Solo Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-capsules.md)
