# Sunken House Architectural Statues This Statue Takes the Form of a House That Fell from the Sky By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-03-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunken-house References: [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/art/ian-strange-drops-suburban-house-sky-landed-03-05-2014/) & [kid-zoom](http://www.kid-zoom.com/) This sunken house is as much of an optical illusion as it is a sound piece of architecture. The statue is set up so it looks like a house fell form the sky and made a huge hole in the ground. The project is called Landed and was made by Ian Strange. The model of the house mimics his own [1920s suburban home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/south-yarra-house). The house is covered head to toe in [matte black paint](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) making it a standout where it's located. The [sunken house statue](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-slope) is in Australia and is located at the art gallery of South Australia. The display was made for the Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art and sits directly at the front of the display. The artist even added debris and detritus to surround the fake 'crash" location, making for an even better visual experience.
