Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman is back with a new piece that is sure to captivate her fans across the world. Hofman has this time created a more affable, gangly Sunbathing Hare -- on land this time -- on Hare Island in St. Petersburg, Russia. The smiley, pink-nosed hare lays bare with its stomach on the grass besides a river. The hare measures 15 meters long by 8 meters wide, while standing 2.5 meters high. The hare is covered with plywood strips that have subtle pigments of green, orange and pink painted on them. The hare, which lays down with his legs crossed over each other and gleams happily at onlookers, is set to be displayed until October 13 as part of the [Russian public art program](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowers-and-butterflies-are-dancing), called “The Netherlands Bilateral Year 2013.” ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Public Art Installations:** Opportunity for artists to create large-scale sculptures that captivate and engage audiences. - **Giant Animal Sculptures:** Growing trend of creating oversized animal sculptures as eye-catching attractions. - **Interactive Outdoor Art:** Increasing demand for art installations that encourage audience interaction and exploration. ### Where This Applies - **Tourism:** Creating monumental sculptures can draw tourists and boost local economies. - **Public Event Planning:** Opportunity for event planners to incorporate large-scale sculptures into festivals and city-wide celebrations. - **Construction and Engineering:** Demand for specialized construction and engineering services to bring large-scale sculptures to life. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Iconic Bag-Inspired Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-birk.md) - [Colorfully Inflatable Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blowup-art-the-hague.md) - [Historic Contemporary Sculptural Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawsholiday.md) - [Soup-Themed Bunny Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidrobot-2.md) - [Bow Tie-Wearing Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bow-tiewearing-sculpture.md) - [Folk Creature Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog.md) - [Record-Breaking Gummy Mosaics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gummy-candy-mosaic.md) - [Interactive Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-kinetic-sculptures.md) - [Giant Chicken-Like Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heir-and-a-spare.md)
