# Scenic Table Lights The Sun Rising Lamp is Inspired by a Japanese New Year Tradition By Meghan Young | Published 2012-11-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sun-rising-lamp References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/11/05/everyday-is-a-sun-day/) & [h220430.jp](http://www.h220430.jp/index1) The Sun Rising Lamp provides the best way to wake up. As its name gives away, the design is inspired by the rising sun. The light bulb hides behind its mountainous base like the fiery orb cresting the peaks on a brand new day. For urbanites who are unable to appreciate the real thing on a daily basis, the Sun Rising Lamp allows them to at least appreciate a [sculptural simulation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp) of a [beautiful sunrise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evening-sky). Designed by h220430, the Sun Rising Lamp is inspired by a Japanese New Year tradition that involves people worshipping the sunrise at the beginning of the year by reciting their optimistic resolutions. But the designers note a sunrise happens every day, writing, "Tf people have this same feeling every day when the sun rises, the world will become a much more peaceful place." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sunrise-inspired Lighting:** Opportunity to create lighting designs that mimic the beauty and energy of a sunrise. - **Urban Wellness:** Opportunity to bring elements of nature and tranquility into urban environments through design. - **Culturally-inspired Design:** Opportunity to draw inspiration from cultural traditions to create meaningful and unique products. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Opportunity to create unique and visually stunning lighting fixtures for homes and apartments. - **Hospitality:** Opportunity to incorporate sunrise-inspired lighting into hotel room designs to improve guest experience. - **Retail:** Opportunity to sell sunrise-inspired lighting fixtures as a way to bring tranquility and nature into people's homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimal Wake-Aware Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-sleep-light.md) - [Circadian Bedside Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-lamp.md) - [Stress Reduction Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunnest-table-lamp.md) - [Sunset-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunset-light-nicktable-lamp-light-design-lamp-design-lighting-design.md) - [Smoky Illumination Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunset-lamp.md) - [Gentle Alarm Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-alarm-clock.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md) - [Traditional Tower-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pagoda-lamp.md) - [Sunrise Alarm Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunrise-alarm-clock.md)
