# Gabled Agrarian Home Designs The Sullivan House Was Inspired by Classic Barns in the Ohio Area By Madison Mackay | Published 2018-07-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sullivan-house References: [uncrate](https://uncrate.com/sullivan-house/) & [jbadusa](https://jbadusa.com/project/sullivan-house/) Jonathan Barnes Architecture and Design created the [Sullivan House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sella-concept-1) in Ohio, a luxurious structure that embodies a hometown-inspired aesthetic. The structure is formed by two connected gabled buildings to create a [barn-like design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-comet) for a rugged exterior. The limestone chimney pairs perfectly with the [real timber cladding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-saidera) that adds to the agrarian vibe that is used throughout the entire space. The interior is divided by two structures that are connected by a main living area, which acts as the heart of the home. By using truly rustic materials paired with contemporary furniture, the living spaces are comfortable yet unique. The large windows allow all guests to look out at the wooded landscape to make the home feel like they are fully immersed in a forest. Finishing off the Sullivan House is the large outdoor terrace that connects directly onto the home and looks down on the property's ravine to create another amazing space for entertaining. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Gabled Agrarian Home Designs:** The trend of gabled agrarian home designs presents an opportunity for architects and designers to create luxurious structures with a hometown-inspired aesthetic. - **Rugged Exterior with Rustic Materials:** The trend of incorporating rugged exterior elements with rustic materials offers an opportunity for construction and home improvement industries to provide unique and visually appealing designs. - **Immersion in Natural Surroundings:** The trend of designing homes that allow residents to feel fully immersed in natural surroundings creates opportunities for landscape architects and outdoor living industries to create innovative outdoor spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** The architecture and design industry can capitalize on the trend of gabled agrarian home designs by incorporating classic barn-inspired aesthetics into luxurious structures. - **Construction and Home Improvement:** The construction and home improvement industries can tap into the trend of using rugged exterior elements and rustic materials to offer unique and visually appealing designs for homes and buildings. - **Landscape Architecture and Outdoor Living:** The landscape architecture and outdoor living industries can take advantage of the trend of designing homes that immerse residents in natural surroundings by creating innovative outdoor spaces that complement and enhance the overall design of the homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stealthy Gabled Upstate Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clinton-corners.md) - [Rural Charred Modern Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stanfordville-house.md) - [Traditional Barn-Style Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/six-square-house.md) - [Unconventional Triangular Barnhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dutch-barnhouse.md) - [Gabled Rural Serene Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/des-lauriers-house.md) - [Corrugated Metal Barn-Like Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac.md) - [Barn-Form Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-house1.md) - [Gabled Cedar Paneling Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cotton-patch-hills-house.md) - [Prefabricated Timber Barn Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/north-fork.md)
