Sukwon Park and Sungwoo Park’s Armstrong Bin was named after the world-changing first step onto the moon made by Neil Armstrong in the late 60s. The Armstrong Bin is all about [stomping down garbage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/can-crusher) to improve our planet. You simply open the lid, throw out the trash and then step on the footprint, which causes the [accordion-like shell of the bin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tronco) to squish down to the ground and reduce the size of the garbage. I have absolutely no problem stomping my way to a better future! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Crushable Bins:** Sukwon & Sungwoo Park's Armstrong Bin is just the beginning of innovative garbage design - **Foot-activated Waste Bins:** Movement-based garbage bins present the potential for improvements with trash collection mechanisms - **Eco-friendly Waste Reduction:** Simple designs, like the Armstrong Bin, help promote sustainable landfill practices ### Where This Applies - **Waste Management:** Waste Management companies can invest in movement-based garbage bin designs and build out expansion on innovative waste management designs - **Environmental Sustainability:** Environmental sustainability companies can evaluate designs to produce innovative eco-friendly waste reduction solutions - **Consumer Goods:** Brands that focus on consumer products can build out sustainable practices in product design and manufacture, focusing on eco-friendly innovations ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Adorable Public Rubbish Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-seoul-20.md) - [Tipping Trash Can Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/niko-trash-bin.md) - [Rodent-Preventative Trash Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/group-project.md) - [Sustainably Constructed Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubbish-bin.md) - [Customizable Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totem-compact-unit.md) - [Automated Anti-Odor Trash Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zita-square.md) - [Versatile Egg-Shaped Waste Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextgen-waste-bin.md) - [Modular Trash Organization Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sortmate-trash-cans.md) - [AI-Powered Recycling Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/binko-recycling-machine.md)
