The [Tokyo, Japan building](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-tower-kyobashi) features an extraordinary exterior concept and an equally bold interior. This vibrant space challenges traditional design, embracing eccentricities and fun over a banal and lifeless building face. Made from a stack of 12 colored layers, this [rainbow-inspired structure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nantou-hybrid-building) features three elliptical skylights that allow its interior to bathe in natural light. The open-concept space is bright from the outside in, lit up at night to reveal vibrant color hues. Upon entry, visitors are greeted by a cieling, adorned with dandelions that seem to float through the air. Instead of cold furnishing, guests are seated in a series of scattered chairs, displayed in a [variety of rainbow tones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wonderland-elementary-school), giving the Sugamo Shinkin Bank an optimistic and cheery vibe. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Vibrant Architecture:** Designing buildings with bold, colorful exteriors challenges traditional aesthetics and creates visually engaging spaces. - **Open-concept Spaces:** Creating open-concept spaces that prioritize natural light and unique interior design elements can offer a more welcoming and vibrant environment. - **Eccentric Interior Design:** Incorporating unconventional and playful design elements, such as scattered rainbow-colored chairs, can add a sense of fun and positivity to a space. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Architecture firms can embrace vibrant design concepts to offer clients unique and visually striking building designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can explore open-concept spaces and eccentric design elements to create visually engaging and welcoming environments. - **Hospitality:** Hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality businesses can adopt vibrant and open-concept design approaches to create memorable and lively guest experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Colorful High-Density Residential Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design.md) - [Neon Illustation-Donned Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafted-world-exhibition-1.md) - [Incredibly Colorful Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorful-office.md) - [Light-Filled Public Restrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vivid-toilet-interior.md) - [Ultra-Playful Studio Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-workspace.md) - [Playful Contemporary Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-contemporary-office.md) - [Geometric Colorful Residential Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphic-house.md) - [Bright Colorful Workshop Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-sm.md) - [Spiralling Stainless-Steel Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/010-building.md)
