# Bird's-Eye Urban Storage Suburbia Wall Unit Turns a Neighborhood Model into Cubbies and Shelves By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-04-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suburbia-wall-storage References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/suburbia-modern-wall-storage/) & [notedesignstudio.se](http://notedesignstudio.se/note/suburbia/) Take a good look at the Suburbia [wall storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-storage). With your first glance, you might not have been able to fully appreciate the inspiration for the seemingly haphazard forms that protrude from the wall-mounted piece. You'll begin to notice the shapes of pitched roofs and even the outline of a swimming pool, suggesting that this [whimsical unit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets) is a model of a neighborhood, tilted on its side. The scattered houses and sheds that project from the [wooden panel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life) have been made hollow with open sides. This allows them to function as pen holders and convenient niches for stashing a wide variety of miscellaneous possessions. Little trees serve as clever pegs and a playing field has been rendered as a cork board. Note Design Studio's Suburbia wall storage solution for Seletti brings a bit of playfulness to tidying. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Whimsical Wall Storage:** The Suburbia wall storage system shows how incorporating playful design into home organization can set a product apart from its competitors. - **Neighborhood Model Decor:** The trend of incorporating miniature neighborhood models into home decor items provides a unique and personalized touch to household items. - **Multipurpose Furniture:** Furniture that has multiple functions, such as the Suburbia wall storage system, is growing in popularity due to its space-saving capabilities. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Companies in the home decor industry can take inspiration from the Suburbia wall storage system in creating playful and unique design solutions for home organization. - **Furniture:** Companies in the furniture industry can develop multipurpose furniture solutions, such as the Suburbia wall storage system, to appeal to consumers looking for space-saving options. - **Stationery:** Stationery companies can take inspiration from the pen holders and niches in the Suburbia wall storage system to create stylish and functional desk organization products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Living Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treevive.md) - [Colorful Modular Storage Sysem](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/center-center-storage.md) - [Floating Stacked Storage Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kgt-wall-unit.md) - [Design-Forward Interlinked Storage Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interlinked-storage.md) - [Modular Magnetic Wall Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-organizer-concept.md) - [Vertical Honeycomb Storage Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-art-storage-system.md) - [Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet.md) - [Modular Organized Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unit-shelving-system.md)
