[Uber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uber-and-turo) partnered with Queensland, Australia to introduce the world's first [submarine rideshare service](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sublue-vapor), suitably called scUber. The submarine can take two passengers to 20 meters below sea level to explore the Great Barrier Reef. The service is battery-powered and costs passengers $1,500 AUD each.

Uber partnered with [Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spanish-extra-virgin-olive-oil) to donate $100,000 USD to protect the at-risk ecosystem. There are over 1,500 species of fish and coral located in the Great Barrier Reef, and they are all in jeopardy as a result of pollution and climate change. Susan Anderson, Uber’s regional general manager of Australia and New Zealand said: “Uber is committed to harnessing the power of technology for good. We are proud to partner with Queensland to help showcase the Reef to the world with the launch of scUber.” Anderson announced scUber is making an effort to promote more sustainable travel practices to help protect the planet.

As sustainability becomes more mainstream, businesses need to be conscious of their eco-footprint.
