# Blended Chair Benches The Stuhlhockerbank Public Seat Seems More Like Art Than Furniture By Meghan Young | Published 2011-04-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stuhlhockerbank-public-seat References: [bookofjoe](http://www.bookofjoe.com/2011/04/stuhl-hocker-bank-chair-ottoman.html) & [kraud.de](http://www.kraud.de/en/objekte/stuhlhockerbank-2/) As our world becomes more and more refined in taste and aesthetic, I feel like it is our duty to see additions to public spaces that are more in line with creations such as the Stuhlhockerbank public seat. By taking the [boring old bench design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/us-her-him) and revamping it into something that resembles an art piece rather than a piece of furniture, it can do wonders for the populations mentality, imagination and overall way of life. Designed by Yvonne Fehling and Jennie Peiz of Kraud for Hofmann Moebel, the Stuhlhockerbank public seat is basically a blend of [traditional wooden chairs and stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass) that have been melded together to form one very large bench. By blurring the lines between different types of furniture, the Stuhlhockerbank public seat expresses "a person’s inner stance in the particular situation," according to the designers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Artistic Public Seating:** Designing public seating with an artistic touch can enhance the overall aesthetic of public spaces. - **Blended Furniture Design:** Merging different types of furniture to create unique designs can create innovative and eye-catching pieces. - **Enhancing Populations Mentality:** Incorporating aesthetically pleasing furniture in public spaces can boost creativity and elevate the overall mood. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Incorporating artistic elements into otherwise mundane public seating can set manufacturers apart from competitors. - **Architecture and Design:** Creating unique and innovative public seating designs can be a new focus area for architects and designers. - **Public Spaces and Planning:** Improving public spaces by including artistic furniture can enhance the overall experience of people who spend time in those areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Sleek Public Seating Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leftover-bench.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Repurposed Brick Public Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-public-furniture.md) - [Modular Outdoor Space Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mass-public-bench.md) - [Elegantly Airy Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-bench.md) - [Interaction-Promoting Public Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bench-seating.md) - [Sculptural Seating Carpets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rondin.md) - [Minimalist Meditative Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pause-bench.md)
