# Pregnant Seating Studio Thol Designs a Chair That Extends into a Bathtub By Meghan Young | Published 2010-09-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-thol References: [thedesignblog.org](http://www.thedesignblog.org/entry/simple-somber-chair-maturates-to-evolve-into-a-bathtub/) & [studiothol.nl](http://www.studiothol.nl/) I think very few people have ever seen the likes of this chair/bathtub hybrid designed by [Studio Thol](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naughtone-percy). Although it looks like it was created sometime in the mid-20th century, it's very much a modern design. Providing the dual comfort of a chair and tub, Studio Thol fashioned it by "inserting a [marmer composite tub](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathtrope) in an [oblong oak wood cage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/same-same)," according to The Design Blog. To me, it just looks like a pregnant lady ready to pop or a man who's had one too many beers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Dual Comfort Design:** Designing furniture that provides multiple functions and comfort. - **Hybrid Furniture:** Creating furniture pieces that combine two or more functions. - **Modern Retro:** Designing furniture with a modern twist on classic styles. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Creating innovative and functional furniture pieces. - **Home Goods:** Providing unique and versatile products for the home. - **Interior Design:** Creating stylish and functional spaces using innovative furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Relaxed Outdoor Breastfeeding Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamo-chair.md) - [Bended Tubular Chair-Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Rounded Hydromassage Tubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aretusa-tub-by-claudio-papa.md) - [Cross-Legged Wide Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lap-chair.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Malleable Removable Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathtope.md) - [Circular Modernist Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zerogravity-chair.md) - [Comforting Adaptable Sofa Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baby-bird-reincarnation-3way-sofa-bed.md)
