The small, puck-shaped device automatically communicates with the Surface Studio when touching it to offer many different features depending on the app in use. Though the Surface Dial looks like little more than a stainless steel cylinder on its own, it jumps into action when placed against the Surface Studio. When it makes contact with the screen, the Surface Dial turns into a functional dial. For instance, when users are in the painting app, the Dial summons a series of colors around it, and users can spin it to select the color of their stylus brush from anywhere on the color spectrum. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Detachable Computer Dials:** Opportunity for incorporating detachable computer dials into other electronic devices for customizable user interfaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Computer Hardware:** Potential for computer hardware manufacturers to develop and integrate detachable computer dials into their products for improved user experience. - **Art and Design Software:** Possibility for art and design software developers to utilize detachable computer dials to enhance user creativity and productivity. - **Consumer Electronics:** Opportunity for consumer electronics companies to explore the integration of detachable computer dials into their devices to provide users with new ways of interacting with technology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [All-in-One Creative Professional PCs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microsoft-surface-studio-2.md) - [Dedicated PC Control Knobs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ploopy-knob.md) - [Creative-Centric Control Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/creative-console.md) - [Side-Scrolling Mouse Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dial-mouse.md) - [Workflow-Focused Productivity Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mx-creative-console-1.md) - [Smartphone-Powered Computing Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microsoft-surface-duo-workshop-concept.md) - [Personalization-Friendly PC Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elgato-stream-deck-plus.md) - [Wearable Desktop Control Peripherals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prolo-ring.md) - [Modular Digital Creator Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intact-studio-vsn1.md)
